Vi-de Juegos: Dungeons of Aether
Dungeons of Ether Develop: Dan Furnace, Ampersand bear // Pubic: Dan Furnace Launch: February 28, 2023, Dungeons of Ether is a strategy game in which we explore dangerous dungeons in search of treasures. The shift combat system introduces chance through a series of dice runs that we will have to use to refine our attributes in front of an enemy that will not hesitate to do the same. Thus, according to our level, we will have a base score of attack, defense, agility and speed that we can complement with colors to try to overcome that of our opponent. For example, if our attack is superior to your defense we will take away a life, if our defense is superior to your attack, we will be able to protect ourselves and if we have more total speed we will have the opportunity to shoot first. The ACC, meanwhile, will be essential to unlock our special attacks capable of being both transformative and destructive. And in our team we will also have the stamina, a series of extra emergency points that we can add to each attribute after eating some piece of fruit or using an object. The extra difficulty layer is related to the color of the dice that, if used in an attribute with a different color, will add only one point instead of the amount that marks their face. In addition to the effect of chance, in Dungeons of Ether we will have to learn to deal with a series of changing attacks that we can add and learn as we level up. While attributes and dice function as a rigid and continuous system, these attacks bring to the game the variety and personalization possibilities that card mallets add to similar titles. Therefore, starting from the shot and the basic defense, we can opt, for example, to create a reactive character (which hits when it is beaten) or that works better wearing the adversary. This advance, which functions as an excellent and very careful tutorial (much better than these paragraphs above), also points to a fast and dynamic exploration system and a story in which more than a surprise turns can be possible. With a classic Dungeon Crawler structure we only need to see the possibilities of the village and what type of Power UPS we can get to try to bend chance. Dungeons of Ether is developed by those responsible for rivals of either and set in the same universe. For this reason, we cannot rule out the idea that elementary attacks come together to be part of our repertoire, adding another layer of difficulty to the interesting base combat. Without a doubt, Dungeons of Ether's demo manages to explain and sell us his proposal two weeks after his arrival in Steam.
And although the jump from the fight to the strategy per turn is immense, it seems that the Ether Studios team-which has had the help of Nikita Belorusov-will be up to it. The experience of Ampersand bears will have a pixel art and an animation that can highlight the genius of design.
And I, for my part, I can't wait any longer.
